Ashley Brazil is a ceramic artist based in Minneapolis. Having spent her formative years growing up near valleys, mountains, forests, and the ocean of the Pacific Northwest, she feels deeply rooted in finding art in the natural world around her. With a background in painting, design, and art history, her practice is a culmination of these interests. Through clay and paper sculpture, she explores the depth of feeling that certain colors bring from their interaction with one another and the tactility of texture. She is most inspired by ancient forms as a canvas in which to explore ideas of ritual, beauty, mindfulness, and transformation. Her pieces are often displayed as a larger constellation of created and collected treasures. How each piece is situated in relation to each other, holds as much purpose as the piece itself.
